Find your best laser settings for acrylic, wood, card, paper, engraving laminate etc..

Working out what settings to use for you new or old laser can sometimes be a chore.

One way to produce your desired results would be to set up a test file for each type of material with varying parameters. This file could be squares, circles, lines etc that have different settings applied to each of the vector ‘layers’.

The file would then run for each of your material types after the process has been completed you would inspect each of the cuts/engravings to figure out which one looks the best for your application.

This can be replicated on any material you would like to test on your laser cutter (taking care to follow all safety guidelines for cutting unknown materials).

The other way to do it would be to use an online calculator such as the one available on our website here. This is a very easy way to work out settings for your most common laser materials, on the plus, it’s also completely free with no registration required.

Our online calculator gives you a great starting point to test your settings on a variety of common materials, for both cutting and engraving.
